    This award recognizes those students who hold leadership positions or participate in significant service activities on the Burman campus, in their local church, or in the community during the current school year.

    Criteria and Information

    Amount: $1,500

    Application Deadline: May 5, 2025

    Reference Deadline: May 31, 2025

    The award evaluation is conducted by the Scholarship Committee and is based on the level of leadership and service activities from the current school year. 

  • Application Eligibility:

    • Applicants must be a full time student at Burman University and complete 12 credits each fall and winter term of the current school year.
    • Applicants must have achieved a 2.3 or 2.5 GPA in the current school year (Depends on the student's declared program of study and the required GPA for graduation).
    • Applicants must hold a leadership position (excluding paid hourly employment) or participate in significant service activities from September to April in the current school year.
    • Applicants must submit an application and references before the deadline.
    • Students are ineligible to receive this award if they are receiving a second degree discount or a full tuition scholarship.
    • Course requirements and hourly paid employment do not qualify for leadership or service in regards to the scholarship criteria. 

    Redemption Eligibility:

    • To claim this award a student must register for and successfully complete a minimum of 12 credits (excluding PLAR and audits) during the upcoming fall and winter terms.
    • The total award amount will be divided equally between the two terms of the upcoming school year, $750 each semester. 
  • If you are not returning to Burman you will not be eligible for this scholarship.

    • For each position listed below please indicate your title, your level of involvement and a short description of your responsibilities. Please do not list positions held as part of your hourly paid employment or coursework - i.e. lifeguard, workplace manager, RA. Positions with a stipend are ok. Make sure to only list leadership roles in this section.
    • You can enter up to five separate leadership positions. Examples: Campus Ministries, SA, Club/Dorm positions, church or community leadership roles.
    • Only include activities from the current school year - September to April.
    • Be detailed but succinct when describing your involvement in each activity. (100 words or less)
    • Do not include practicum assignments, hourly paid employment or mandatory course-related activity.

    • This area is for significant or regular service involvement. For each position listed below please indicate the title of position, level of involvement and a short description of the responsibilities. Please do not list positions held as part of your employment, coursework, or one-off events - i.e. volunteer hours for a class, service day, practicums, etc.
    • You can enter up to five separate service involvement items. Please remember this is for significant or regular service such as soup kitchen, Maskwacis ministries, church or community volunteer involvement.
    • Only include activities during the current school year - September to April.
    • Be detailed but succinct when describing your involvement in each activity. (100 words or less)
